Namgay Rinchen
Tour Leader (Trekking, Culture & Motor Biking)

Namgay Rinchen, affectionately dubbed “Chota Don” (The Boss) for his natural leadership and infectious energy, is a beacon of warmth and expertise in Bhutan’s tourism realm. Born and raised in Thimphu, the vibrant capital nestled in the Himalayas, Namgay’s journey from trekking assistant to cultural luminary mirrors the adventurous soul of the nation he proudly represents.

His career began with muddy boots and a heart full of wanderlust, guiding trekkers through Bhutan’s rugged peaks. His insatiable curiosity and dedication soon led him to master cultural storytelling, earning a National Certificate Level 3 in Cultural, Trekking, and Nature Guiding from Bhutan’s Ministry of Employment & Tourism. Today, he seamlessly blends high-altitude adventures with rich historical narratives, having conquered the legendary Snowman Trek five times—and counting.

When not leading expeditions, Namgay’s passion for community shines. As a proud Desuung (Guardian of Peace), he volunteers tirelessly, from organizing local initiatives to spearheading pandemic relief efforts. During COVID-19 lockdowns, he emerged as a frontline leader, coordinating logistics and ensuring safety with the same precision he applies to Himalayan trails. His mantra? “Service is the soul of Bhutan.”

Namgay’s charm lies in his vibrant duality. By day, he’s a knowledgeable guide decoding dzongs and alpine ecosystems. By night, he might surprise guests with impromptu traditional & modern dance performances—a skill honed during his high-school dance troupe days. His laughter is contagious, his Bhutanese folk songs soulful, and his knack for turning treks into joyous journeys is unmatched.

“In Bhutan, we don’t just walk trails—we walk with purpose. And maybe a little dancing!” – Namgay Rinchen
